Shots Shots Shots Shots!!

not the alcoholic ones -_- I'm talking about the vaccines! Amelia went for her 3rd doctor appointment today - her 4 month check up!  And of course it involved a shot.  They can mix vaccines now, so she really only got one actual shot and one vaccine orally, so it wasn't terrible.  She didn't even scream!  She cried more in the car then she did when the doctor stuck her.  She is funny!  I am so proud of her - this time I wasn't as nervous as the last, so I think she was a lot more calm too.

She is 16 pounds 5 ounces and 26 inches long!! We have a healthy baby girl that is doing well all around.  The doctor is very pleased with her, well her everything!  While she was laying on the table in the office she almost rolled over!  I almost had to call the nurse back in to correct our progress questionnaire, but she didn't quite make it over.  I think maybe she was just trying to get off of the table and find a way out - she was like "I am on to you people, see ya" :) hehe

Amelia has now tried apples too, and I would have to assume that apples are her favorite so far!  Either that or she was very hungry yesterday ;)

Amelia's First Knot

So...we have entered the baby food world, and Amelia LOVES it!  We have tried peaches and squash so far, YUM!  I cannot believe my little girl is eating with a spoon from a bowl (with help from mommy or daddy of course)!  She has caught on so quickly, and she is anxious for her new orange favorites!  Today her peaches led to her first knot in her luscious locks!  Who would have thought - a knot at 4 months!?  Thankfully, it came right out with her shampoo during bath time - it conveniently happened to be bath night, but if her food continues to get messier I have a feeling bath night will become a nightly routine.  Bath time is always fun, so I'm okay with giving her a bath every night - and Amelia won't mind, she loves it too :)
scrub-a-dub-dub :)

This week Amelia has her four month appointment - we are looking forward to seeing how much she has grown since her two month appointment!

lunch break blogger

I decided to switch things up today, so I am blogging while I take my little lunch break... I promised to post pics from my exciting shopping trip last Sunday, and I intend on keeping that promise.. I have felt like death this week and I am just now getting back to normal!  Thank God, because I really don't like to be sick, at all!  Kristin did make a good point when we were talking yesterday, though, now I know I will not be sick any time soon!  The last time I was sick was March of last year - with a sinus infection. Not too shabby considering I haven't been ill since then.

Back to talking about lunch...here it is  ...or should I say there it was... because it is definitely gone now! :)

Lunch of champs right here: pb&j on whole wheat toast, chocolate milk (in the frozen cup - only way to drink it) and Oreos!   Springtime Oreos at that!  I have been eating soup for lunch everyday because I buy a ton of cans from BJs and because I like soup! But today, I went the 4th grade route, and it was sooo good!

Well, back to work :) Happy Friday!!!

...if you think I only ate three Oreos...well you are just crazy ;)

what I must say I do best...

SHOPPING!

Yesterday was a fun day out!  We got up and ready and out the door by 11 - a little late, because, well it was Sunday, and most stores don't open early...  We stopped at Wawa for a quick snack hit the road!  We decided (we = me, nick, amelia, and my mom) to go for a little road trip because the stores near us are way to crowded and rummaged through.  We started at Pier 1 where I found a zebra plate to match my living room!  My mom got some great things for her house and we moved along to TJ Maxx - this TJs is combined with Home Goods, so needless to say...it is huge.  We spent about 4 hours in here...without even looking at clothes!!! Marathon shoppers :)  my mom is sort of re-decorating, so she had a lot of looking around to do and a lot of color choices to decide on.  I needed things to add to our bedroom, our hallway, and Nick wanted to re-do the bathroom.  We found a few great finds - and at a discount - YES! Perfect!!  I will post pics of the things that we got, because I think that they are worth sharing, for sure!  Shopping at these types of stores is so much fun, the harder you look the better stuff you find.  I can only do this on certain days, though - not everyday is a leisure shop day - Saturday morning shopping is a speed shopping event and I am in and out of stores and home before noon.  After dinner and going to Ross and Marshalls too, we didn't get home until 9pm!  Like I said, marathon shopping!! Amelia did GREAT all day - we had one little bit of crying because I lost track of time and didn't realize it was time for her to eat - we do so well when we are out and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful daughter.  My mom says that I am a natural mom and that I am very comfortable and that has a lot to do with how she acts, I like to think the same thing.  I cannot wait to have mommy-daughter days with her when she gets older and can interact more with me!

the cake!

Okay! We did it!  And it didn't turn out too bad.  We are no Cake Boss, but we will def do this again so that we can make Amelia's 1st birthday cake!!

We used boxed yellow cake, simply because I like boxed cake - and I love licking the beater, and scraping the bowl :)  and we made our our icing! SO good and SO dangerous.  I think I will make my own icing for breakfast tomorrow ;)

fondant isn't the best tasting...

but I think it looks nice :)

I hope Amelia has freckles!

I hated my freckles when I was younger.  My Mom loved them and thought they were so cute... by the time I was old enough to wear make-up I did everything in my power to cover them up... to no avail - they would always shine through!!  I go tanning (its my 10 minutes of doing-nothing-time and I love it) and when I come out of the booth my face honestly turns into one big freckle.  I secretly like them even though I will still roll my eyes when Mom makes a comment about them being cute.

I think Ms. Amelia Grace is starting to resemble me a little more now - she is definitely lighter than she was when she was born and that may be why I think she is starting to look like me...

...but Nick couldn't even deny it in this pic!

bring on the angel kisses!

too early to start planning a first birthday??

.....never too early!!! :)  Okay, so I am set on making my own cake for Amelia's first birthday - I am envisioning something pink and possibly zebra-esk.. I will obviously need some practice because I am going the fondant route - too many cake shows?! I think so!! It is rubbing off on me, and I am going for it!

Next weekend my not-so-little cousin (because she is as tall as I am) is coming to stay the weekend !! very excited - perfect opportunity to try out the fondant!  I went to Michaels today with the help of my artsy husband and my little girl and we found fondant and icing accessories by Wilton - this is the pre-rolled stuff and the colored ones are pre-cut into smaller, cookie cutter friendly sizes.  I will try tackling this before I try Duff's (from Ace of Cakes) fondant - his stuff you have to actually melt and roll, so I think I will use that for the final product.  I assume it tastes a whole lot better than the boxed stuff too!

And according to 'Chef Cynthia' (not kidding she's such a good cook!) we're going to make our own icing! Yum!!  I will update with how our "fondanting" turned out :)
